Blakehurst Aged Care Centre residents made the most of the sunshine recently with a picnic to Como Reserve. Surrounded by natural bushland and suitable footpaths to take a stroll, the day could not have been better, as they sat with the sun on their shoulders and a slight Autumn breeze in the air. Accompanied by Rhonda, excursion participants were able to enjoy the facilities of the Como park, with ease.
Time spent outdoors is proven to be beneficial for wellbeing and encourages optimal health. It is incredibly easy to find the motivation to go for a walk when provided with the right environment. Parks and reserves offer so many opportunities for seniors to rediscover the great outdoors and to take an adventure every now and then. When you have a host, like Rhonda, and lunch and refreshments provided, there really is no reason to stay inside when the sun is shining.

Blakehurst Aged Care Centre residents, family members, staff and friends, gathered together this Anzac Day to remember the courageous service men and women who have served - and still serve - our country.
This day is of particular importance to the elderly as it is a time many still remember so clearly – like it was yesterday. It was a time of hardship, struggle and challenges, many greater than anything we could possibly face today. This hardship is something that connects the generation that witnessed WW1 & WW2 first hand.
It was wonderful to see so many attendees this year. The service was beautiful, one we will not forget.
