Celebrating Edna, 100 years young!

Celebrating Edna

Our wonderful resident Edna Bailey turned 100 years young on March 11th and it was a big deal. Several of Edna’s fellow residents joined the party along with her son Roger, daughter Carol and Roger’s wife Beverley. Appetisers, flowers, cake and music were at the heart of the celebration and everyone had an amazing time.

“We are living longer and loving it at Blakehurst Ibis Care.” Those were the words Roger Bailey said while celebrating his mother’s 100th birthday. In a heart-felt speech made by Roger at the gathering, he went on to say that his family visited several aged care homes before choosing Blakehurst and was grateful for the genuine care and attention their mother receives.

Roger also praised their mother for the wonderful times he and Carol experienced growing up in Beverley Hills. He said Mum and Dad were loving, fun parents and the family travelled extensively around the world. They were great providers and always kept active.

Roger was pleased, but not surprised, when he was told about Edna’s humble words on daily life at her age; “I don’t worry about the things I can’t do, I only focus on the things I can do”.  Edna Bailey
