Having a Ball ~ Ibis Care Blakehurst

Having a Ball

The annual Royal Ball was held recently at Ibis Care Blakehurst. The ballroom space was beautifully designed with all the pageantry of traditional ballroom décor. The Lifestyle Team, professional dancers, musicians and residents came together and created a unique and wonderful dance experience that few could challenge. Amazing food and dancing to live music made for the most memorable evening for everyone!

It was a truly royal occasion as Doris McGibbon was crowned ‘Queen of the Ball’. Doris is wearing the prestigious royal crown and adorned with the fabulous golden decorative necklace with all the trimmings. It is fair to say that her smile speaks volumes of her pride in taking out the crown.

The ‘Best Dancer’ award was given to Ray de Gruchy, known for his incredible dancing prowess and his love for getting into the groove at events like this one. Remarkably, Ray is one of our older residents but moves like a young impresario, which the ladies seem to like… a lot!

Our ‘Best Dressed’ award went to Patricia Wrightson, who danced her way into everyone’s heart, gaining attention with her flashy moves and smart and attractive attire.

The ‘Staff Award’ went to our most vibrant and exciting staff member, who always brings her best game to everything she does, is Simy Santos. Simy graciously accepted the award and vowed to bring her South American ‘spicy’ best to the Ball next year!

Charles (wearing hat) and Candy, our professional dance therapists, have danced their way into our hearts for many years and left nothing on the table on this occasion. Chris Connolly, our incredible guitar player also made the ball a huge success with his musical talent and singing. There is much anticipation of an ‘unmasked’ and equally as fabulous Royal Ball in 2022.
