Ibis Care, a leading aged care provider in Sydney’s St George and Sutherland Shire communities has partnered with the Women’s Resilience Centre to support its female workforce.
James Carter, Interim CEO of Ibis Care explains that in an industry with a majority of female staff, he finds it incredibly important to support them as people not simply as staff.
“We know that the aged care workforce remains a largely female workforce in 2020, with about 86 per cent of the residential aged care workforce across direct care roles are female1.”
“The challenges that women may face in the community are not isolated to their lives outside of work. We understand the impact that these issues can have in their working life.”
The Women’s Resilience Centre is a national service dedicated to helping women heal and move forward from domestic abuse and trauma through powerful and holistic long-term recovery support. Programs are offered to help work and career, finances, parenting, relationships, joy, connection, stress reduction and resilience, reflecting our core values of safety first, caring to the core, respect, hope, inclusion and empowerment.
“Programs such as the the Free Recovery Program and Mentoring by the Women’s Resilience Centre are great supports for women who may need it,” says Mr Carter.
Ibis Care’s employee programs also include a 24/7 wellbeing and mental health support service provided by experts at AccessEAP. “We know that the better we can support our workforce, the better they can support residents,” adds Mr Cater.

On Thursday 30th October Ibis Care will host a community fashion parade at its Blakehurst aged care home where staff and residents will participate in showcasing the Recycled Fashion Wardrobe – an Ibis Care sustainability initiative.
Residents, their supporters, family and friends are looking forward to attending the special event.
Visitors can help Ibis Care to raise important funds for the Women’s Resilience Centre by donating a gold coin, or more, at entry.
“To further show support, Ibis Care will match the donations we receive at the Fashion Parade up to $1,000,” says Mr Carter.
Last month, Ibis Care joined the Women’s Resilience Centre (WRC) as a Silver Sponsor at their Cirque du Joy – Reset the Dial 2025 at Luna Park’s Big Top to raise funds for the important work they do to support women across the community.
At the event we heard from influential voices united by a shared commitment to women’s recovery. The distinguished Host Committee includes Tracy Hall (survivor turned advocate), Tracy Williams (former Harlem Globetrotter helping Australian kids), Tracey Spicer AM (award-winning journalist and gender equality advocate), and Stephanie Wood (acclaimed author and journalist).
